Dr. G. Sagar has vast experience of over four decades in teaching, research and academic administration at leading institutions in India and abroad. He started teaching carrier at RV College of Engineering, Bangalore (now RV University) in 1979. Later moved to JNTU constituent college at Anantapur. He was one of the faculty members at JNTU Anantapur involved in establishing the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
In 1987 he was appointed as Assistant professor (now associate professor) in Computer Science and Engineering and posted to JNTU constituent college at Kakinada. Here he involved in establishing the computer science department and computer science programs. Later transferred to JNTU Masab Tank to work at the then established Institute of Post Graduate Studies and Research (IPGSR). The IPGSR offers post graduate programs in thrust areas including computer applications and computer science & engineering. Besides teaching master students, involved in activities of developing computer centre including selection of servers, installation and managing them. Computer Centre carried out several data processing works and processing of entrance examinations. The IPGSR was associated with several industries and research organizations for its post graduate programs and research. The post graduate programs offered in day time for fulltime students and at evening for working professional. Also undergraduate programs were offered in distance education mode. Not only coordinated with various industries and research organizations for academic work at IPGSR and also developed course material for distance education programs. Further associated with several state level entrance examinations for admission into Engineering and Medical Education Programs. Extended support to recruiting agencies and other government departments for their staff selections.
In 1997, appointed as professor of computer science and engineering posted to JNTU Constituent College, Kukatpally, Hyderabad. In 1999, moved to Middle East on invitation to work at Aligarh Muslim International Centre (AMUIC), at Dubai. Department Computer Science was started with under graduated and post graduate programs. The sponsoring organization for Aligarh Muslim International Centre was Al Ghurair Academy. Subsequently Al Ghurair Academy sponsored Manipal Academy for Higher Learning (MAHE) and Birla Institute of Science and Technology. I was appointed as representative of MAHE programs and their deputy controller examinations upto 2007. During this period several memoranda of understandings were developed with US Universities and MAHE for transfer of students from MAHE to US universities.
In due course, the sponsoring organization Al Ghurair Academy was elevated to Al Ghurair University (AGU) to offer UG and PG Programs. In this process, several documents were prepared for licensure and accreditation from Ministry of Education (MOE), Government of UAE. At AGU worked as Dean, College of Computing, Dean in charge of College of Engineering, Dean, Student Support Services besides Director of IT to manage computer centre. The computer centre works round the clock with twenty blade servers and campus network. On relief from AGU, moved to Usha Rama College of Engineering and Technology (URCET) in March 2020. Besides teaching, working for Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Support Centre (EISC) and Industry Institute Collaboration.
Research interests are in the areas of microcomputers and distributed computers. Has several publications, both national and international journals and conferences. Further, he has organized several computer literacy programs and national and international conferences on parallel processing , intelligent systems, etc.
