Total Students Attended :100 Out Of 104 nos [III B.TECH A&B Sections].

Detailed Schedule of visit :

  • Transportation facility was provided by the college.
  • Students of III-II SEM both A&B sections [Civil Engineering] accompanied along with Four Senior Faculty Members started at 9:40 AM from COLLEGE.
  • Reached the water treatment plant at 11:15 am , all arrangements and permissions for the visit were taken properly in advance.

Bhavanipuram water treatment plant is the major drinking water supply to theVijayawada city and is situated on the banks of Krishna River. Its total capacity is about 40 MGD. The plant works on Rapid Sand Filtration and it has the following main connected units are:

  • Intake wells
  • Primary Sedimentation tank
  • Rapid sand filter
  • chlorination
  • storage sump
  • Pump House

Four Rapid Sand Filters and four sedimentation tanks are in use.

For Disinfection of water, Chlorine gas is being used.

The treated water is stored in underground sump from which it is being pumped to the various places of the city.

The process of back washing of the Rapid Sand Filter has been explained and demonstrated practically.

Testing of turbidity& chlorine levels are explained in the laboratory.

Had lunch at nearby restaurant at around 2:00 PM. Afterwards started return journey and reached the college campus around 3.50pm.
