"One day workshop on Environmental Impact Assessment" by Civil Dept on 27-12-2016

A one-day work shop on Environmental Impact Assessment has been organized by the department of Civil Engineering, of Usha Rama College of Engineering and Technology, on 27-12-2016. Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) has become a prerequisite and mandatory for approval of any kind of project. Knowledge in carrying out EIA work and preparation of reports is the need of the hour and will enhance the employment opportunities. The main objective of this One-Day Workshop is to create awareness on various theoretical concepts of EIA. A Software tool called RIAM has been introduced which will be immensely useful for rapid assessment through different case studies. This tool will be immensely useful for decision making in a rapid way by considering very large number of impacts. The other advantage of this tool is that different options can be compared. The main attraction of workshop is gaining hands-on-experience regarding the use of RIAM for EIA through the lab training session. Environmental Engineer Mr. E. Satyanarayana from AP Pollution Control Board attended the program as chief guest and gave a lecture regarding the EIA. Resource person Dr.G.V.K.S.V. Prasad, have explained the methodology of EIA and another resource person Prof. K.Sundarakumar have demonstrated the RIAM software with case studies.
